iPhone is the Best-Selling Tech Product of 2017
The iPhone brand again represent the best-selling devices of 2017. This is what analyst GBH Insights has estimated the 233 million units have been sold from different versions of the smartphone this year.
This means that iPhone has sold more units than the second to fifth place in the leaderboard combined. Second are the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy Note 8, which together made 33 million sales.
The budget version of Echo Dot on Amazon’s smart speaker is third with 24 million sold devices. Again, Apple is ranked fourth with Apple Watch, which has 20 million sold units. Number Five is the pleasant surprise Nintendo Switch, with the 15 million units sold of the hybrid console.
iPhone was the best-selling technology device and in 2016 when sales amounted to 211 million. GBH Insights predicts the phone will protect its crown in 2018 as a large number of existing iPhone owners will now be ready to upgrade their mobile phone to a new model.
While huge, this year’s sales numbers also aren’t a record for the Cupertino, Calif. company. That honor belongs to 2015 when Apple released the iPhone 6, a redesign that led to 230 million in sales.
The global market share for smartphones is dominated by Google’s Android system, which owns 85%, compared to 15% for Apple’s iOS, according to researcher IDC. But the iPhone is the most popular smartphone brand, having opened a huge gap compared to No. 2 Samsung’s Galaxy phones at 33 million.
However Samsung, which has a broader portfolio of phones, sells more overall. Indeed, in 2016, Samsung shipped over 320 million phones, most lower-priced phones sold outside the United States, like the J3, On8 and A9 lines.http://gizbrain.com/2017/12/31/iphone-best-selling-tech-product-2017/https://i1.wp.com/gizbrain.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/apple-phone-x-sell.jpg?fit=1200%2C630https://i1.wp.com/gizbrain.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/apple-phone-x-sell.jpg?fit=210%2C110APPLETECH NEWSApple,iPhoneThe iPhone brand again represent the best-selling devices of 2017.
