The competitors Intel and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) are uniting to create a laptop computer chip that uses the Intel processor and the AMD graphics processor. The partnership will straighten up the two companies against the rival Nvidia.

The new chip will be designed for thinner laptops but will be powerful enough for gamers who need more graphic power for their games. The chip will be part of the eighth generation Intel Core family and will be the first Intel and AMD product since 1980.

Laptops equipped with the new chips will not compete with Ryzen’s AMD chips, which are also designed for ultra-thin laptops and have to be released by the end of this year. AMD points out that these new Intel chips will be targeted at serious gamers, while Ryzen chips can work with games but are not specifically designed for this purpose.

Intel claims that this is the first consumer product that uses the EMIB bridge design that allows information to be transmitted quickly in “extremely close proximity.” The new chip will use HBM2 and can be used on devices including laptops, notebooks and mini desktop computers. Source: The Verge
