Along with last night’s announcement of Galaxy Note 8, Samsung announced that will have a new version of the Gear VR headset, which is specially designed to support the new flagship.

Why? Well, because its huge 6.3-inch display simply can not fit into the front of the virtual reality headset. At first glance, besides the physical design, almost nothing has changed between the new Gear VR and the one we saw just a few months ago.

The previous model came out with the Galaxy S8 and S8, but Samsung’s designers did not make the calculations well to make sure it works with Galaxy Note 8. The price of the new headset is again $130. And it’s really your only option, as Galaxy Note 8 is not compatible with any other Gear VR headsets.

On the other hand, if you pick up the new one, it will also support the Galaxy S8 and S8 +, S7 and S7 Edge, S6, S6 Edge, S6 + and the more old Note 5. Overall, the situation is a bit tedious and creates extra costs.

Hopefully the Note 8 will also be compatible with Google Daydream — just like the S8 and S8+ — but the company hasn’t directly confirmed this piece of information yet.
