Nvidia is already working with the largest automakers such as Audi, Toyota, Volvo and Volkswagen, and now the company has announced a new partnership with Chinese Internet giant Baidu, know as (Chinese Google).

The two companies will work together to stimulate the use of artificial intelligence. Nvidia’s Drive PX technology will be used in Baidu’s self-drive and other autonomous vehicles of “big” Chinese companies.

As a result of the partnership, Nvidia’s Volta graphics processors will be available to Baidu Cloud customers. It is a business victory for Nvidia, but partnership is much more important for Baidu, which is determined to compete with Waymo (Google), GM and other self-driving companies, creating an open platform with Nvidia.

Speaking at Baidu Create, Pradeep Gupta, senior technical director at NVIDIA, highlighted how Baidu and NVIDIA have been working together to solve the challenges of developing an AI self-driving driving car.

“Baidu’s wealth of experience has achieved great results in artificial intelligence, deep learning, and high-precision maps,” Gupta said. “The Apollo open source program is a great way to build an open autopilot platform, and we welcome other partners to join.” Source: Nvidia, Baidu
