The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ flagship received the authoritative recognition of Consumer Reports’ independent consumer organization. Her conclusion is that the phones are great, but there is one problem – their price can scare a lot of candidates.

In its comprehensive report, the organization does not save praise for design and the large and beautiful display which is almost the whole front panel. “Minimalist, modern and elegant” are just some of the superlatives here.

“If you want a stunning camera, long battery life, and gorgeous display in a water-resistant package, one of these could be the right phone for you. You just have to be willing to spend the rent money on it: The S8+ starts at about $840, and the S8 at around $720.” Says Consumer Reports.

The Galaxy S8 and S8+ have top-notch cameras, displays, and battery life—but they come with big price tags

Regarding the battery, the conclusion is that the Galaxy S8+ has a higher rating than the Galaxy S8.

“For many consumers, the biggest technological advance in recent smartphones has also been the easiest to understand: water resistance. Like several other phones on the market, including the Samsung Galaxy S7, both S8s are water-resistant to at least 5 feet of water for at least 30 minutes.”

The difference in battery life is why the Galaxy S8+ ranks just a smidge higher than the Galaxy S8 in our ratings. Bigger phones typically do better in such tests simply because the batteries are larger.

“If battery life is really the most important thing to you, bigger phones are generally better,” lead phone tester Richard Fisco says. “But of course they also tend to weigh more. It’s a tradeoff.”

Consumer Reports tests the devices for their IP68 rating, which seems to be fully justified.

Even without Bixby – anyway, everyone using the Google Assistant – the Galaxy S8 and his fellow are the best phones, concludes the organization. Source: Consumer Reports
