Apple will expand Siri’s capabilities to compete with Amazon’s Alexa
Apple will deliver improvements to Siri’s voice assistant, which will allow the company to respond to Alexa’s competitive service success, Reuters said. According to the media, the new Siri will work with a much wider range of applications, but the focus will remain on a few options that are sophisticated rather than wide range.
Currently, Apple’s voice assistant works with several types of apps: sharing, messaging and calling, searching for photos, processing mobile payments, sports, and car systems.
“In typical Apple fashion, they’ve allowed for only a few use cases, but they do them very well,” said Charles Jolley, chief executive of Ozlo, maker of an intelligent assistant app.
At this year’s WWDC developer conference we will see and an update of hardware products and one completely new. According to various sources, Apple will present new hardware to respond to Amazon Echo. Apple has refused to comment on rumors.
