It has come out that Facebook is preparing a new child-only chat app that can be easily tracked by their parents. The parents will have the option of tracking with who the kids are talking to, and the application itself will be restricted as access by strangers looking for contact with them. The service will be called ‘Talk’ and will be restricted to children under the age of 13.

Safety features to protect children from online stalking and grooming by paedophiles include ensuring the new service will not be publicly searchable. The app will also apparently allow parents to “fully control” who their children are in contact with.

Parents will be able to monitor their children’s contacts better and even control their contacts. The goal of the social giant is not only to protect children but also to make parents feel comfortable about them child using the internet.

The buried code says “Talk is a messaging app where you fully control the contacts,” and “Your child uses the Talk app to chat with you in Messenger”. Information about ‘Talk’ is still very limited, however will take a few more months to get more details about the application. Facebook of course refuses to comment on a new service.
