Apple takes 79.2% of the global profits from smartphones last year, according to the study from the Strategy Analytics, focusing on the skills of the US giant to increase sales by lowering the cost of production.

Total operating profit of the entire smartphone industry amounted to $53.7 billion last year. Apple’s operating profit was $44.9 billion and percentage profit on total revenue was 32.4%.

In comparison, Samsung Electronics realized $8.3 billion during 2016, representing 14.6% of global profits.

Profits at Chinese manufacturers of smartphones remains low, despite the huge market share that they hold. Huawei announced $929 million profit last year, equivalent to 1.6% of global sales. Oppo takes 1.5% and 1.3% going to Vivo’s account.
