We already know that BlackBerry will unveil a new smartphone codenamed Mercury on 25 February. According to Roland Quandt known with the release of tech leaks, claims that the rear camera of the smartphone Mercury will have the same sensor as the phones Google Pixel. This will be a 12-megapixel sensor Sony IMX378, which is capable of shooting 4K video.

Of course, the camera of the smartphone is made up of more than just a sensor. The lens is also critical of how light will be received by the sensor, which reflects the quality of the pictures. Last but not least is the software, where Google has actually achieved a really huge leap.

As for the front camera of Mercury, Quandt says that will be made by Samsung (S5K4H8), or OmniVision (OV8856). Both have 8-megapixel sensor capable of recording Full HD video at 30 frames per second.

Recall that BlackBerry Mercury will be a smartphone with a physical QWERTY keyboard, which is something rare at today’s smartphones. We expect more details about the hardware and software of the model in the coming weeks. BlackBerry itself no longer produces hardware, only licensed his name.
