If you have an iPhone with a smaller screen, here’s good news – YouTube application is updated, so you have the option of higher quality videos. This is possible thanks to the update, allowing higher maximum resolution of video.

While the larger 5.5-inch display on the iPhone supports resolutions up to 1440p, all other small models are only 720p. With the latest model, however, even 4.7-inch phones will play YouTube videos in up to 1440p. If you have even smaller 4-inch old phones, there the maximum resolution will be 1080p.

Unfortunately resolution at 60 frames per second is still limited to 1080p, although Android devices with QHD display can play 1440p60. The disappointment remains for owners of iPad, whose much larger screen is also limited to 1080p.
