Sony Computer Entertainment will offer his headset for virtual reality PlayStation VR this fall, the company confirmed. The gadget will debut on the market in October 2016 priced at $399 in the United States, CAD $549 in Canada and €399 euro in Europe.

The news was announced personally by the Executive Director of the SCE Andrew House, who pointed out that currently more than 230 studios and publishers are already working on games for the VR headset.

“Today more than 230 developers are building content for PlayStation VR, from smaller independent teams to larger studios at the industry’s top publishers. We expect to have more than 50 games available from launch in October 2016 until the end of the year.

Of course, the full promise of PlayStation VR will continue to grow over time as talented developers create new experiences and new genres that wouldn’t be possible outside of VR. The future looks bright indeed.”

Among them are as small independent developers, and some of the biggest names in the gaming industry as 2K Games, Electronic Arts and Ubisoft. Over 50 of these titles, including Eagle Flight (Ubisoft), EVE: Valkyrie (CCP Games), Headmaster (Frame Interactive), Rez Infinite (Enhance Games), Wayward Sky (Uber Entertainment), RIGS: Mechanized Combat League, Tumble VR, until Dawn: Rush of Blood and PlayStation VR WORLDS (SCE WWS) is expected by the end of this year.

Moreover, it provides fully revised VR version of the online shooter Star Wars Battlefront, which EA and DICE developed jointly with Lucasfilm.

We must not forget the other innovative features of the headset as a cinema mode option for 360-degree panoramic photos and videos, and more.

“Since we introduced PS VR during the 2014 Game Developers Conference, we received a huge response from both gamers and the game developers,” said Andrew House.
