PlayStation-VR

When we talk about virtual reality, we can not go without the comparisons between the three largest VR players – Oculus Rift, HTC Vive Pre and PlayStation VR. In the case of the latter, things are a little more special.

The helmet from Sony is designed to work only with PlayStation 4. This means that you don’t need to spend additional $1000 (minimum configuration) for a new PC, which is required for Rift.

Sony knows this and aim not to be the best in the battle of the virtual reality glasses, but to catch the biggest piece of the VR market.

“If you just talk about the high-end quality, yes, I would admit that Oculus may have better VR,” says Ito.

“However, it requires a very expensive and very fast PC,” he continues. “The biggest advantage for Sony is our headset works with PS4.”

“PlayStation VR is more for everyday use, so it has to be easy to use and it has to be affordable,” Ito adds. “This is not for the person who uses a high-end PC. It’s for the mass market.”

From Sony have not yet announced a release date and price for the PlayStation VR. Looked real life, the price remains one of the biggest drawback for the virtual reality to get mass distribution (lets not forget and the lack of content and decent applications).

No doubt the Japanese manufacturer will take this into consideration before reveal the final price of the product, for now is it’s hard to say exactly how great the savings will be for its customers.
