Sony announced a Full-Frame, 4K, 12MP Security Camera SNC-VB770
Sony presented its latest mirrorless security camera SNC-VB770, which can shoot with 4K resolution and provide “clear color video at 30 frames per second, even when the subject is almost invisible to the human eye.”
It has a 12.2-megapixel full-frame sensor that Sony uses in its Alpha A7S II mirrorless camera. This sensor can shoot in 4K on a dark night with 0.004 lux.
Sony sees a variety of usage for this new surveillance camera from detecting ice on the road surface, monitoring of railway tunnels to wildlife observation.
Thanks to the high resolution, you can cut different parts of the image and display it as four separate VGA (640 x 480) images, as shown below.
Sony SNC-VB770 can be controlled over WiFi from smartphone and video and JPEG images can be sent directly to the LAN via RJ-45 connector.
Unfortunately, the new security camera from Sony will not be affordable for most of the people, because its price is $7,500.
