Hugo Barra Officially Unveiled Xiaomi Mi 5 at MWC 2016
Xiaomi Mi 5 is the new flagship of the company, which was today officially presented at the MWC 2016 from the vice president Hugo Barra. Мore than 30 minutes Barra talk about the benefits of latest Qualcomm Snapdragon chip. Аs we learned Qualcomm was co-sponsoring Xiaomi’s event, and its latest Snapdragon 820 powers the Mi 5.
Mi 5 comes with 5.15-inch IPS display with a 1080p resolution, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 4 GB RAM, 128 GB of internal memory and 3000 mAh battery for its top version Mi5 PRO. The Snapdragon 820 chip also supports Quick Charge 3.0.
The Mi 5 starts at 1,999 Chinese Yuan ($305), for a 32 GB storage and 3 GB RAM with a glass casing and goes up to 2,699 Yuan ($411), for a 128GB storage 4 GB RAM, with a new ceramic case.
Barra long talk about all technologies that comes with the new smartphones. Sunlight Display technology is upgraded as well and promises contrast adjustment on a per-pixel level.
The phone has 16 MP Sony camera with new “four-axis” optical stabilization. “It makes the darker parts of the content – whether it’s a photo or anything that you are looking at – lighter, so you can see it better, without making the light parts lighter too, which would explode [the image] and use too much power,” Barra said.
The operation system is the company’s popular MIUI 7 OS. It is based on Android, version 6.0 Marshmallow.
Barra said the Mi 5, will be on sale in China from March 1, and would be the first phone to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 processor.
