Sundar-Pichai-Google-CEO

Google CEO Sundar Pichai intervene in the escalating battle between the FBI and Apple over the encrypt of iPhone. Describing the letter published by Tim Cook as “important,” Pichai says it is disturbing precedent that the judge is trying to force Apple to assist the FBI to obtain access to the data of an iPhone.

“Important post by @tim_cook. Forcing companies to enable hacking could compromise users’ privacy. We know that law enforcement and intelligence agencies face significant challenges in protecting the public against crime and terrorism. We build secure products to keep your information safe and we give law enforcement access to data based on valid legal orders. But that’s wholly different than requiring companies to enable hacking of customer devices & data. Could be a troubling precedent. Looking forward to a thoughtful and open discussion on this important issue.” Pichai said in his twitter account.

It practically repeats the words of Cook, who in his letter wrote: “This moment calls for public discussion, and we want our customers and people around the country to understand what is at stake.”

At this stage it seems that is not a matter of if, but when, and other influential technology executives like Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook) and Satya Nadella (Microsoft) will give their opinion on this issue.
