At CES 2016 Nikon Reveals KeyMission 360, the first action camera of the company. It is able to capture video in 360 degrees with 4K resolution. KeyMission 360 has the shape of a square and is a slightly larger than GoPro Hero 4 Session. Furthermore, there are obviously the front and rear lenses.

Action camera is shock resistant (in drop up to 2 meters) and waterproof to 30 meters. KeyMission 360 has an electronic system to reduce vibration. Beyond these features Nikon has not announced details of price, availability, battery life or the sight of each lens.

Nikon is not the only company producing digital cameras that enters the market of action cameras – Sony also offers its action camera to compete GoPro. Other companies such as Garmin and TomTom are not trying to compete GoPro directly, but instead offer action cameras with more features such as GPS and accelerometers.

But none of these action cameras can capture 360-degree video. Only a few smaller companies like Ricoh and 360fly has presented the 360-degree cameras in the consumer class. All this leaves room for competition, especially from large companies like Nikon.
