HTC has just presented Vive Pre – the second generation of virtual reality glasses, which improves the original Vive, which was released last year. Thanks to the removable foam inserts and seals nose, Vive Pre offers a wide variety of different face shapes and is also compatible with prescription glasses. As we saw earlier of the leaked photos HTC has improved and the Vive controllers, which already offers better ergonomics, improved pads grip sensors feedback, and integrated batteries that are charged via microUSB cable and employ more than 4 hours of run-time.

New things is that Vive Pre has a camera in the front, which will merge the physical and virtual worlds. So users will not need to remove the glasses to see the real objects when sit on the couch, for example, or simply to carry out an action. In fact, the front camera is what makes HTC and Valve to postponed the launch of virtual reality glasses at the end of 2015. If you remember, Cher Wang (HTC CEO) announced in late 2015 that the delay is due to “very, very major breakthrough in technology for virtual reality with HTC Vive”.

And this is really a breakthrough, not because it is the first camera placed on prototype of virtual reality glasses, but because of the way in which HTC and Valve have managed to merge the physical and virtual world. HTC and Valve is planning to launch Vive Pre commercially in April this year, but the price was not announced. There will be more news about Vive Pre at CES 2016 in Las Vegas, expect more news.
