4K resolution video clips have long been available to all on YouTube, but on the video platform Vimeo were only available for users of the paid service. Interestingly, at the beginning 4K content was impossible to be streamed from the service, but the videos with ultra high quality was possible to be be directly downloaded.

Vimeo justifies his decision with business reasons. Surely now there is not so high demand for 4K content to justify the resources they need to invest, to provide live broadcast video with such a high quality. However, this decision of Vimeo give them time to optimize his hardware and software before making 4K streaming available to all.
