Mark Zuckerberg announced today that it intends to donate 99% of its shares of the social network Facebook, valued at about 45 billion dollars to date, for various charities in the rest of his life.

All this happened in the day that Facebook’s founder became a father for the first time. He announced his plans in a letter to his daughter, who publishes in the social network.
Zakarbarg and his wife Priscilla Chan creators of Initiative Chan Zakarbarg. The initiative largely recreates and objectives of donations of both: personal training, treatment of diseases and connecting people.

The move is not surprising, given that Zakarbarg signed the “Giving Pledge”, among other technology industry billionaires such as Bill Gates. “Giving Pledge” goals is much of the wealth of the participants to distribute to charity.

Mark Zuckerberg will retain a majority of the voting rights in the near future and confined to donate no more than $1 billion in shares per year over the next three years. Due to the specific structure on Facebook, where he has special entitlements aloud, Zakarbarg can donate ordinary shares, while retaining control over the company.
