Bill-Gates

On Monday, Bill Gates will announce one of the largest partnerships for clean energy in history, according to a new report ClimateWire. The partnership will focus on research and implementation of new sources of energy without carbon emissions. Funding was provided by Gates and other philanthropists.

Meanwhile, a coalition of countries, including the United States and India have agreed to double their funding for research and development of clean energy. The announcement coincides with the annual summit of the United Nations Climate Change, to be held in Paris on Monday. “This is the largest cooperative partnership for research and development in history,” said the source of Greenwire.

Bill Gates recently hinted at plans to invest about $2 billion of his personal fortune in energy technologies with zero carbon emissions. Its purpose, as stated in a TED talk from 2010, to allow humanity to reach zero carbon emissions over the next 35 years, a goal that will require enormous advances in nuclear and wind power. “Right now, the world spends a few billion dollars a year to study ideas for zero carbon emissions,” says Gates. “It has to invest two or three times more.”
