Apple may present a Separate Medical Device
In an interview with The Telegraph, Tim Cook said that Apple may present a medical device, but it will not be the next version of Apple Watch. Initial plans for the future development of the device suggested a wide range of medical sensors. Devices with medical applications, however, must be tested and approved by the Administration for food and medicines in the United States. This slows down considerably cycle of innovation in products and in the words of Cook “prevents Apple to innovate”.
Apple probably will develop medical capabilities in a single device with a slow update cycle that will not be affected by the slow approval of the administration. The company plans seem to be serious as centralized testing and approval are required for devices that help diagnose and treat diseases. This suggests that any medical device of Apple, it will be a true helper for your health, not just a smart accessory that stimulate you to live healthier.
