Twitter replaced the icon ‘Star’ with ‘Heart’
Twitter is finally made the change that many expected – icon “Star”, serving to mark favorite thing, now is replaced with “Heart”. For the heart, as we see in many other applications, has become a universal “like”. In a blog post Twitter says the change is effective as of today and also applies to Vine.
Social network explained its decision as follows: “You might want many things, but not everything can be your favorite.” The logic is that the heart is more universal symbol that can be recognized in all cultures, while the star can mean different things to different people. Twitter also notes that Periscope, which is their property, use the “hearts” and consumers love it.
The new icon is put into action today on twitter.com, at Twitter apps for iOS, Android, Windows 10, Tweetdeck and embedded tweets on the Internet. Vine for Android and the website of the application will have hearts today and Vine for iOS and Twitter for OS X will soon be updated.
