According to the CEO of Fitbit, the company has not felt the financial corrections after the presentation of Apple Watch. Contrary to expectations, the maker of wearable devices sees Apple as a competitor but as a company in a very different market segment. This does not seem far from the truth as sales of Fitbit devices have not decreased after the marketing of Apple Watch – on the contrary. In the last year the company’s revenues jumped by 168%, while units sold in the last quarter increased by 300,000 compared to the previous.

Similar sentiments are felt and at Jawbone, whose CEO also is not worried by competition from Apple. According to him, the wider segment of wearable devices can be divided into three categories – professional sports devices used by athletes, smart watches that combine notifications productivity and fitness opportunities, and fitness tracker that carry constantly. Many experts, however, this is a temporary situation and these three categories will gradually start to intertwine each other. According to them, the fitness tracker will gradually receive advanced functionality, professional sports devices will look more stylish and attractive and smart watches will have more opportunities to track physical activity.
