Microsoft unified its mobile and PC platforms with Windows 10, and now we begin to see new features that really take advantage of the new operating system. Microsoft has released a new preview of its Windows Mobile 10, showing how we can send a text message with Cortana from a desktop computer or laptop. If you use a Windows 10 Mobile device Cortana will notify you of any missed calls, and you can answer directly from your computer.

Indeed, the message will be sent as plain text on your phone, but this integration means that you will not have to touch your phone to send messages every time. You can manually enter text or voice text with Cortana.

This function works if you use the same Microsoft account on your computer and your phone, enabling data synchronization with Cortana in the cloud. If you use multiple computers to one account, you can turn off notifications for missed calls on each machine. So far this function is limited to Windows Mobile 10, but it will be interesting to see if Microsoft will expand Cortana for iOS and Android in the future.

Microsoft is expected to finalize Windows Mobile 10 soon, and the company plans to release the new mobile OS for existing devices in December.
