SanDisk will be sold to Western Digital or Micron
Bloomberg’s source claims that SanDisk is looking for a buyer. One of the most popular manufacturers of flash memory is actually quite small compare with the giant Samsung and needs the support of a large company to continue to operate with good financial results. The two companies, which is spoken most often for this deal are Western Digital and Micron.
SanDisk’s acquisition of WD would be very meaningful move, as this will allow it to remain relatively independent in the full transition to flash memory, which is happening now. Declining use of hard drives, especially in the consumer sector, is good for business components to Samsung, but strikes at companies such as WD and Seagate. For now there is no confirmation when it will happen this transaction, nor of what value would be.
