Jimmy Iovine don’t think Apple Music needs a free plan
At a recent event in San Francisco Jimmy Iovine announced some interesting details about the development of the Apple Music. He did not share specific numbers, but assured that the service has enough subscribers and has no plans for significant change in its business plan. Apple will not present a free plan, sponsored by ads like other streaming services.
According to Iovine Apple Music service can quickly gain about 500 million subscribers, if launched free plan, but Apple does not want to take in this direction. According to him, plans sponsored advertisements do not bring in enough revenue to help musicians and streaming companies to “build an audience on the back of contractors” who do not receive adequate remuneration for their labor. Iovine is confident in the potential of Apple Music and supports the position of Steve Jobs on the role of musicians (especially independent) in the development of music services from Apple.
