Makerbot announced that it will significantly reduce his team – 20% of employees will be laid off. Moreover Makerbot will reduce the used office spaces instead of two office buildings, the company will now use only one. Factory 3D printers and components in Industry City, New York, will continue to operate normally.

This is the second major wave of layoffs this year under the leadership of Jonathan Jaglom who took over as chief executive earlier this year. He explained the need for cuts with market dynamics and very ambitious plans of the company. Strong competition from other companies and gradually declining consumer interest in 3D printers are factors that the management of Makerbot are not taken into account in establishing long-term business plan. We hope that the company will recover quickly from the crisis and to resolve the lawsuit for selling distressed devices.
