Amazon introduced two new Fire HD tablets with 8-inch and 10.1-inch displays. The devices offer new Fire OS software, they are lighter and more colorful, the specifications are also updated.

Fire HD is more expensive by at least $100 compared with 7-inch tablet, but probably is worth it. Fire HD 8 features widescreen 16:9 display and Fire HD 10 have a 4:3 screen. Both tablets come with a resolution of 1280 by 800 pixels, quad-core MediaTek processor clocked at 1.5 GHz and 16 GB of internal memory that can be increased through the microSD slot card. Stereo speakers with Dolby Audio technology and Amazon Fire OS 5 software, which the company claims is “the best tablet experience with fast access to the things you do most often”.

Other specifications include a front and rear camera and a battery that promises eight hours life. Amazon offers a physical keyboard for Fire HD 10 at a price of $99.99 usd. Fire HD 8 is priced at $149.99 usd and Fire HD 10 has a price of $229.99 usd. Sales of the new tablets starts on September 30.
