Google is often subject to allegations of abuse of monopolistic behavior. It seems the company now has one more case, which has to cope. The Russian anti-monopoly agency believes that Google is abusing its market position in the country and will be punished. The complaint comes from a popular Russian search engine Yandex.

According to the anti-monopoly agency Google has violated the law because of many pre-installed applications on mobile devices with Android. Google can get a fine equivalent of 15% of its revenues for 2014 in Russia. From Google replied only that they would analyze the decision.

Yandex on the other hand said that the decision would “return to competition in the market”. Yandex is still the most popular search engine in Russia, but its traffic continues to fall because of the many users who switched to Android, where there are many pre-installed applications of Google.

The complaint comes from the practice of the Google search engine to be installed in advance on phones and preferential placement of certain google icons on the main screen in the user interface. According to numerous state commissions and organizations Google gives priority to its own services in search engine results. Earlier this year it became clear that the European Union is preparing to restart antitrust lawsuit against the US company.

Recall that just before year News Crop accused Google, as “platform for piracy”. Then CEO of News Corp Robert Thompson criticized the search engine, saying that it “systematically redirect users from sites relevant to their own commercial purposes”. In a letter to EU competition and Thompson said that “Google used its dominant market position to crush competition” and that the vision of the founders of Google has changed from “cynical management”.
