MediTek-Helio-X22

Taiwanese company MediaTek has already developed 10-core processor for smartphones, which is named Helio X20 and will be used in some devices on the market. Interestingly, the company is preparing to launch more powerful architectures that are called Helio X22 and X30, which also have ten cores. MediaTek have tried to ensure of both their high performance and low power consumption.

New MediaTek Helio X30 combines three groups of cores, four of them work at 2.5GHz and are supplemented by two further clocked at 2GHz, the last four operate on 1.5GHz and 1GHz. The first six cores are based on the Cortex-A72 architecture, while the last four use Cortex-A53 chip design. MediaTek Helio X30 includes support for 4GB RAM modules and eMMC 5.1 flash memory and is complemented by the ARM Mali-T880 GPU.

The other new processor of the company is Helio X22, but so far the details of it remain shrouded in mystery. However, it is expected to be available early next year and to offer an identical layout of cores as Helio X30. We can be sure that such architectures have the potential to become MediaTek increasingly influential factor in the smartphone market.
