Twitch announced via his blog that officially began using HTML5 for their video, and gradually abandoned Adobe Flash. The company, owned by Amazon, says that changes will happen gradually.

The move follows the path that took YouTube, where they first tests HTML5 video in 2010, and then make HTML5 video site active by default in 2014 and completely abandon Flash earlier this year.

“Today’s redesign moves half of the video player – specifically the controls – from Flash to HTML5 and Javascript. The video itself is still in Flash underneath the controls. However, this is an important step to releasing the much-anticipated full HTML5 player.” – Twitch official blog.
