If you’ve ever wanted to download a photo from Instagram, to use it to print, you’ve probably been disappointed by low resolution of 640×640 pixels. Now from Instagram decided to increase the resolution. The photos on Instagram will be stored in a higher resolution – 1080×1080 pixels.

Although the change is not yet visible in the mobile and web version from The Verge have found that in the source code the new photos are stored in 1080×1080 pixels resolution, probably in preparation for full deployment in the coming days or weeks.

Instagram spokesman told, that the company has begun “gradual release of 1080px images in iOS and Android applications” last week, which means that most people should already see the images with higher resolution in the mobile application.

The web version of Instagram for now will not support images with higher resolution. “We are focused on mobile applications and we have no plans for the web version” says from Instagram.
