Last updated on Amazon Kindle Paperwhite was in the autumn of 2013 and this week the company unveiled its new improved version. The new Kindle Paperwhite has a brand new display with 300ppi (pixels per inch). This is two times more than the last iteration and the equal of more expensive Kindle Voyage.

Essentially, 119 US dollars for the new Paperwhite is good reason to cancel the $199 Voyage, which “surpasses” Paperwhite mainly with sparkling glass screen and separate “buttons” for paging.

Amazon indicate that Voyage also has higher contrast and brighter screen, but the question is whether all of these things together are worth the extra $80. We guess not, but it’s probably not a huge problem for Amazon. The company expressly identifies Paperwhite as its “most popular Kindle”, but it probably will not change anytime soon. With its new improved screen and a lower price, Paperwhite is the best Kindle option for most people.

The new Paperwhite Kindle is the first e-reader with support of the new Amazon Typesetting engine and a new font, Bookerly. You can make a request for the new Paperwhite deliveries starting at the end of this month.
