From 2010 onwards Security Rewards program, Google has helped to improve the security of its services. Last year, Google has paid more than $1.5 million for security researchers who found vulnerabilities in Chrome and other products at Google.

Now Google expands its Security Rewards program to include people who discover errors, fix them and prevent vulnerabilities especially on Android. Here are some details about the new Android Security Rewards program:

• To vulnerabilities affecting Nexus phones and tablets available for sale in Google Play (currently Nexus 6 and Nexus 9), Google will pay for each step required to fix a bug in security, including patches and testing. This makes the Nexus first major line of mobile devices that offers an ongoing program of rewards for vulnerabilities.
• In addition to the prizes for vulnerabilities Google offers even greater rewards to people tracking security investing in tests and patches that will make the entire ecosystem more secure.
• The biggest prizes are available to security researchers who showed how to deal with the security features on the Android platform.

“As we have often said, open research on security are key advantage on Android platform” – says Google’s blog post.
