Huawei P8 8-core processor and an innovative RGBW camera
Last night a special event in London Huawei presented its new flagship, but without the name Ascend. The smartphone, successor to Ascend P7, comes with a robust set of features that put it as a serious competitor to other high-end models of other hardware manufacturers.
Huawei P8 has a thickness of only 6.4 mm profile and full metal body makes the smartphone not only pleasant appearance but also should add an extra sense of strength and quality. Will be sold in two varieties according to internal memory (16 or 64 GB) and a choice of four colors with interesting names – mystical champagne, prestigious gold, titanium gray and carbon black. The new model is not waterproof, but has a special coating that can withstand occasional water splashes. This is a nice addition, which can save you a lot of headaches if you accidentally spill a glass of water on the phone. The camera use 13 MP sensor (f/2.0) with RGBW, which should improve the quality of images taken at a lower amount of light. We should note that for the first time such technology is used in a smartphone. By Huawei announced that RGBW sensor increases brightness by 32% in scenes with high contrast and light, while those with a low amount of light will reduce it by 78%. Although no more details, most likely, fourth, white pixel should help collect more information about the light, and through it to improve the overall performance of the camera. For best results there is optical stabilization. EMUI 3.1 is the latest version of the user interface, which uses Huawei for its Android smartphones. The most interesting is the maintenance of tapping with his knuckles – by double tapping you can make screenshot for example, and by drawing a circle choose the content you need. Among the facilities we can mention the function where you can use a voice command to find the device. If you left it somewhere in the room, but do not see it, you’ll just have to call him and he will respond.
Another good news is the presence of slot for two SIM cards, both can be 4G. Call quality is provided by two antennas – one is located at the top of the phone, and the other – at the bottom. By Huawei added that the new flagship is doing much better with noise isolation to provide much-clear calls.
Huawei P8 will be available in Europe next month, the price of the 16 GB model will be 499 euros and more expensive will be traded against 599 euros.
By Huawei commented that P8 max “builds on the design of P8”, but has a larger screen, more battery life and a metal housing. The company called P8 max smartphone, but the phone has a 6.8-inch Full HD display with 16:9 ratio. The good news is that the shape remains relatively modest when talking about such a large display. The reason is that 83% of the front panel is occupied by the particular screen. Like the smaller model, P8max is made of metal, and the profile is pleasantly thin – 6.8 mm. Specs are 8-core 64-bit processor Kirin 935 (2.2 GHz), 3 GB RAM and 64 GB of RAM.
The main camera is 13MP with optical stabilization, but at the moment we do not know whether RGBW uses the same sensor. It is clear that relies on processor signal, which is similar to those found in DSLR cameras and which has flagship P8. The front camera is 5 MP. A nice surprise is the large battery capacity 4360 mAh, which should be sufficient for more than two days at moderate operating the device. And here Huawei rely on operating system Android, modified EMUI 3.1, but with a few extra features that take advantage of the larger screen – dividing the screen to work with two applications simultaneously and portrait mode.
Huawei P8 max will debut on the market with the smaller model and also will be dual SIM. The price of the 16 GB version is €550 and 64 GB – 650 euros.
